Buoys for Escapees
(2013)

created and performed by Julie Mayo.

recorded sound by The O'Jays.

Situating lived experience in relation to representations of authenticity, the heart of this solo performance is the question: What is/Is it really real? Secondarily, Buoys weaves gesture, movement, and an absurdist sense of humor in an exploration of communication as parenthetical and affect as an overflow of feeling. Put another way: Occupancy Full.

Performed at Movement Research at the Judson Church. 2013. New York Live Arts (NYC). 2015.
